Frequently asked questions.

We can’t read your mind, but here’s what we would be thinking…

Who is The Workstation Studio for?

Neil, through TFI, has sacrificed and dedicated the last 8 years of his life to helping people and businesses with their technology requirements, providing Workstation reviews and tests spanning multiple generations.

But there are many people who lack the technical confidence to assimilate this information. Irrespective of how well structured and presented the guidance is.

Not everyone understands nor is familiar with CPU architectures, clock frequency requirements, ECC vs non-ECC memory, and not everyone has the time nor the inclination to sieve through the vast quantities of information to attempt to make sense of it all. For those people, they would much rather consult an expert.

Alternatively, anyone can consult with The Workstation Studio to ensure they’re purchasing the best Workstation for their business.

Why so many questions on the specification form?

We can’t find you the right Workstation unless we know who you are, where you are, what you do and what you need it for! These are essential questions that remove any ambiguity or guessing from our side, especially when it comes to location as stock & configurations differ dramatically between countries.

Why so many unavailable services?

The Workstation Studio is a new service and currently we’re analysing demand, we’re starting off with a manageable quantity of services and will be opening up additional offerings in the future. We decided to leave the services as shown but unavailable, rather than hidden, to give potential customers the opportunity to let us know if they’re interested in that particular service. If we receive a number of requests for a particular unavailable service, we’ll open it up and contact those customers immediately.

What if I need a Workstation for software not listed?

We’ve covered the majority of Autodesk software, however, send us an email if you have a requirement for any particular Autodesk product which we don’t have shown. We may be unable to assist, or we may recommend an existing service which will suit i.e. the AutoCAD service will suit users of AutoCAD Electrical.

If you have a requirement for non-Autodesk software i.e. Ansys or Solidworks, or a mish-mash of software requiring a detailed explanation, this is something we’re not currently able to assist with at this time.

Can we pay via invoice?

The commerce utility of this website does not support PO and invoice transactions, however, we’d love your business so whilst we work on an automated implementation for this please send us an email detailing which service you need, and we will reply with further information.

What is the actual deliverable?

After placing your order, The Workstation Studio will begin inspecting your requirements and then searching stock availability near you. Once we identify the perfect Workstation for you, we compile a report (PDF) containing the details of the Workstation we recommend. Where applicable, the report will contain:

  • Full itemised parts list specification

  • Hyperlink to the relevant store for quick purchase (if available)

  • Brief overview detailing why we chose this spec

Unless instructed to be specific, The Workstation Studio will leverage it’s extensive world class experience to select Workstation parts we feel are appropriate for the customers requirements. In the event that a customer questions a choice contained within a specification purely on the grounds of curiosity or because it isn’t what they would have chosen, we reserve the right to refuse to engage in a debate to explain our choices.

Do you offer refunds?

As our deliverable is essentially knowledge and information, once we’ve sent the email, we cannot be sure if the information has been assimilated by the customer. It is impossible to recall or undo.

We will gladly cancel an order and fully refund a customer if a cancel/refund request has been made prior to the deliverable being issued.

Refunds can be judged on individual merit, but many circumstances are beyond our control i.e. stock was available at the time we deliver our report, but the customer is unable to secure the purchase from the vendor. We cannot refund in such situations as the Workstation specification that we provided could be sourced from other suppliers either at the time or soon after. Our deliverable is not the physical Workstation, but the knowledge as to which components to choose when specifying a or any Workstation.

I need more than one Workstation…

That’s cool, you only need to purchase one service. If you’re needing to buy 200 Workstations for 200 Autodesk Inventor users, we simply need to provide you with one specification.

If you need a mix of Workstations, i.e. a Workstation for Autodesk Inventor and a Workstation for AutoCAD, you will need to purchase both services.

I use more than one Autodesk product…

Most people have a primary design tool, the others tend to less frequently used. Therefore we design the Workstation around the primary design tool to maximise productivity. Simply let us know in our specification form in the comments field which other applications you use, and to what extent.

If you have multiple primary design tools and require the Workstation to be designed to maximise all your applications i.e. you need the best out Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vred & Anysys, this is not something we are currently accommodating. Designing a build around such varied criteria requires a significant time investment which we’re not currently able to offer right now, but we are planning on considering this service in the future.

We’re thinking about cloud computing…

We are too, however cloud computing is a different beast. Cloud compute services have an additional layer of complexity in their dashboards, accessibility, regional availability, latency, recurring pricing models amongst other variables. Whilst we investigate preferred providers, this service is currently unavailable. However, please do register your interest in this service and we’ll notify you when we’re ready to provide recommendations.
